Mar 2016: I just moved on 3/17/16. I chose this property because of its proximity to UNC, it's affordability, several unit specific features, fitness facility, and the accessibility of the trash disposal. Stephanie graciously and adeptly walked us through the entire process from the initial tour to signing the lease.
Review from 3/18/16 on Apartment Ratings Mar 2016: I have been living here for 7 months. The location and price are good. XXXX and XXXX are very responsive. Everything is good.
Review from 3/4/16 on Apartment Ratings Feb 2015: The apartment complex could be so much better, and yes, the place could somehow be worse. Overall, I would not recommend the place. Yet, if someone is needing a quick place for the moment, then there are probably worse options than this place.
One of the first things that became really apparent within my first month at University Lake was how easily you could hear your neighbors. I sometimes would play guess what my neighbors were enjoying. Someone is watching The Office or a Lewis Black comedy special. The next day it might be Classic Rock and New Super Mario Bros. U. Conversations out on the walkway were never private.
Review from 2/20/15 on Apartment Ratings Jan 2015: University Lake has been a good experience for me. It's close to campus, a quiet neighborhood, and on the bus-line. There are definitely apartments in the area that are much nicer. But honestly, for the price ($600 per month) and the location; it's a pretty good deal. I made sure that I could view the apartment before moving in. And, I was a little nervous to move here because of the negative reviews (about roaches). So, as a preventative measure, I put boric acid down before moving any furniture into the apartment. That seemed to work, because I haven't seen any bugs!
Review from 1/13/15 on Apartment Ratings May 2014: I LOVE my one bedroom apartment here at University Lake. It's about $200 cheaper than any other single apartment of the same size and quality in the Chapel Hill area. The only potential downside is that it may be harder to reach on foot without a car, but because I have a car, getting to University Lake is not a problem. I would not purchase the furnished option because it is over $100 extra per month for pretty standard furniture. You would be able to get better furniture by searching for used goods on Craigslist or other sources. Nevertheless, the apartment community itself is awesome and I'm really glad I found it.
