Sep 2019: My wife and I lived at Midtown 501 for almost 3 years - it’s a beautiful complex with great amenities. There is a stream nearby and Booker Creek Trail runs just behind the apartments. It’s within walking distance of Food Lion, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. 5 mins drive to Walmart, Best Buy and Michael’s. Downtown CH is 10 mins drive away as is UNC Hospital.
The apartments themselves are quiet, with large windows and lots of space. Though old, they’ve been remodelled and all appliances work well. Maintenance is quick to sort out any issues. Leasing office is helpful and always on top of things. Has been a pleasure dealing with them. Would highly recommend Clark and his team. Review from Google Jul 2019: I like the community, HOWEVER we have had many many maintenance issues. It seems everything in our apartment is always broken. I have emailed every week since I have moved in to have some things fixed and still no one has come out here to fix it. The one time someone came to “check it out†they knocked for 2 seconds and then barged in. No waiting for me to get the door. Overall, their maintenance staff is terrible at following up and there is a lot wrong with the utilities in the apartment. Review from Google May 2019: Quite possibly the best overall community space for apartment living in the Chapel Hill and Durham. The area is open with plenty of light and surprisingly plenty of greenery (trees, shrubs, bushes, flowering plants and landscaping) to shield from the sunlight, while retaining the brightness. I was struck by welcoming recreation center. It boasts the largest pool and pool adjacent space of any multi-unit residence living in the area. They have plenty of flat panel screens around for sports enthusiasts to follow multiple games on multiple screens. Their fitness center actually accommodates muscle toning weight lifting, cardio, aerobics and yoga/stretching. There is a game room (the largest that I have seen in my apartment hunting in the RTP area) which again has several flat panels for your viewing pleasure. It's a great place to host parties. My high schooler has routinely had friends over after school (allegedly) to do homework while sitting by the pool or in the game room or in the internet cafe Review from Google May 2019: Quite possibly the best overall community space for apartment living in the Chapel Hill and Durham. Office staff has been incredibly responsive to every one of our requests. No hassle, no attitude, no problems. Maintenance staff has always come to solve/fix any issues we had and wait time was NEVER an issue. Apartments are spacious inside and well maintained outside.
We are happy at Midtown as location just can't be beat. Close to everything but never feeling like we are in the middle of all the craziness.
Midtown 501 really is a wonderful place to call home!!!! Review from Google Aug 2018: The Apartments at Midtown 501
Great Location and great size pool. Otherwise looks good on the outside but the important things are lacking attention. The Air Conditioning unit constantly breaking, the Fire Alarms going Off at 2 and 3 in the morning for no reason, the Washer had to be replaced and now my Dryer is out, with wet clothes inside and the Washer full of clothes but because it is Saturday is not an Emergency work order and we have to wait until Monday. Same thing happened with the AC unit last month. The AC goes out Friday and we have to wait until Monday because they don't have what is needed to fix it. They don't any experts to deal with the issues, they have handymen that do what they can with what they have. If it wasn't for the location I won't renew my contract here. By the way my 16 year old daughter got bitten by a dog in her Review from Google Jul 2018: Have enjoyed my stay here so far. Had several maintenance issues when we moved in but staff was very responsive and helpful in resolving those. I love the property and amenities and it is very quiet and neighbors are very friendly and nice. Review from Google Jul 2018: I have enjoyed my experience here so far. The staff is very friendly. Hallie is wonderful, from the very first time we spoke with her, we felt welcome. Fast response from all staff when sending an email. The apartments are super nice inside, and the amenities are great. Valet trash is the best! Review from Google Jul 2018: These apartments are the best around! Daniel and the staff are kind and friendly and have helped me with all my needs and quirky requests!
Hands down recommended and hope to stay here for a long time! Review from Google Apr 2018: Terrible apartment with terrible service. The apartment I stayed in was constantly requiring service to the showers toward the end. Also, mold / water damage became apparent in the spare bathroom. The ceiling was leaking a brown, disgusting smelling liquid. When we submitted a service ticket, they painted the ceiling and sprayed it with some scented material. Soon after that visit, the ceiling started to grow mold and leak again.... Photo attached is AFTER service work was complete.
Additionally, the bathtubs would not drain correctly. If someone was running water in the kitchen, laundry room, another bathroom, etc. the bathtubs would begin to fill with brown disgusting water. The plumbing and core of the apartments are clearly old and outdated. They have jazzed up the interiors, but really the core is still very, very old.
I would not rec Review from Google Apr 2018: DO NOT rent here. The staff is completely unhelpful, and my apartment had mold in it for months. I submitted several service tickets to remove the mold, and they simply painted over it. The bathtubs also had terrible drainage. If I was using one, the other would fill with brown liquid. It was disgusting. These apartments are old and poor quality. They simply paint it and put some cheap vinyl flooring down to make it 'modern.' I would absolutely not recommend renting here. Apr 2018: Great community! I moved from the west coast for grad school and was unable to view the apartment I leased before I arrived to move in. The staff made the entire process so easy and I was very impressed by the apartment, amenities, location.
I highly recommend living at Midtown 501! Mar 2018: Moving from California to Chapel Hill was a challenge. Even more challenging was finding an apartment that is in our level of comfort. After looking around in the Chapel hill and Durham (Durham is not a city you want to move in), we finally found this place that has great jstaff and amenities. Daniel the assistant Maneger is an awesome person that will go above and beyond to make sure you have all your needs met.
The maintenance staff is also very attentive and fast on repairs. The guys are very professional and trustworthy. If it wasn’t for us moving to Austin, Texas, we’ll be renewing our lease for at least one more year.
Thank you all at Midtown apartments.
Gus, Melissa and baby Clover Review from Google Feb 2018: I lived here for five months and aside from the poor condition of the apartment upon move-in, my main issue with Midtown was communication with the management staff. They failed to return phone calls and respond to emails and even ignored my formal notice of vacancy. To my disbelief, I had one instance where a representative hung up on me during a phone call, and made no attempt to call me back. I honestly wish someone would have warned me about how poorly the staff communicates and how they have a history of failing to uphold their end of the leasing agreement (ie: the group failed to send a final statement and return the deposit within the time specified on the leasing agreement and by the state of North Carolina).
The apartment changed dramatically while living here; fresh coats of paint and cleaning will only cover up so much. The tub q Review from Google Oct 2017: We lived here 2016-2017. Staff is amazing, they were always friendly and tried to help no matter what the request. They even helped me jump my car once when the battery died right before work in the parking lot. We got a move in special rate, and the price was fair in my opinion, for the location and quality of the interior and amenities. Also, it's the most spacious place I've lived in Chapel Hill out of 4 places. Lots of families, fun events, it just has a peaceful feeling overall. I loved living there and would consider it again if I ever move back to Chapel Hill. Review from Google Aug 2017: These apartments are over priced and the staff is dreadful. The apartments were recently updated, but the quality is bad. There was a sizable gap under my patio door, the refinished tub began to peel within a year, the granite countertops weren't sealed, and the peel and stick vinyl floor had huge bumps in it. What they didn't update was the heat/AC, my heat and AC were not reliable. The staff either didn't want to fix them or didn't know how. Whenever I contacted the staff in regards to heating/AC issues I was met with rudeness. These are not luxury apartments that they advertise. Stay away from Eller property management. Review from Google Jul 2017: I love this place! The apartments are beautiful, there's a gorgeous pool, a small gym, a basketball court, a tennis court, and a volleyball court. We relocated from NYC and Daniel made our transition effortless. Also, any maintenance that we needed was addressed within a day.
The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because we received the apartment with a dirty carpet and dog hair everywhere. This has been a huge inconvenience, and I never received an apology. Otherwise, I am very happy with our decision to move here.
I would recommend a second floor apartment to keep out any unwanted critters, and a non-parking lot view is worth it. Review from Google Jul 2017: It's the nicest apartments in our price range we could find. The pool is fairly large and has an 8 foot section. The clubhouse is nothing short of amazing. They have a large area to relax, a bar, free Starbucks coffee, simulation sports, a great workout area, and even a computer room for residents to use cost free. I'm staying in a two bedroom and the kitchen is fairly large, and the master closet is very nice. I would've liked a different layout but it's got a nice cozy feel. Only thing I don't like is the dense woods surrouding the property. It attracts a lot of bugs so you can't leave the patio door open without the screen. Review from Google May 2017: Nice upscale and spacious Apartments. Safe for families with kids. Have a full size pool, well kept tennis, good gym and basketball courts, so you don't have to drive kids for these activities. Well kept surroundings and prompt maintenance. Some office staff could act bossy but most of them are great. Located in the best school district in the area. Rent could to go up almost every year but that is mostly market driven. We had great two years and are happy campers especially for our kids.
Review from 5/12/17 on Google Dec 2016: LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about this place. I recommend it to anyone who wants to live in a quiet, friendly, well-maintained environment where the staff look after you and you feel pampered!
Review from 12/27/16 on Apartment Ratings Dec 2016: We just moved in November 2016, and have had NOTHING BUT maintenance issues. No heat, shower was freezing cold or boiling hot, broken light fixture in kitchen, toilet plumbing problems. But my favorite has to be the stench that permeated the master BR. I thought it might be drains or carpet off gassing so I called maintenance. The tech told me that "some of the new light fixtures installed overheat with regular light bulbs, so you have to put low watt bulbs bc some plastic fitting melts with the higher watt bulbs". What?!? You know this problem exists, but you dont fix the root problem? Sigh. As I write, I have one non working toilet and a shower that's still freezing or boiling hot.
Review from 12/19/16 on Apartment Ratings Nov 2016: Remodel looks great, but there are some major shortcuts that were taken. Floors are lumpy and very uneven, so tables will be slanted and require adjustable risers; bathroom remodel appears to have the shower/tub repainted, which is uneven and stains very easily; there is very poor lighting, and the light sockets are very loose so plugs don't even stay in the wall; issues with trash collection from the main dumpster which often overflows onto the sidewalk. Front desk staff is nice and helpful. There are community events, which I haven't taken part in yet, but appreciate that these events are available for residents. Maintenance has been prompt and does a good job.
Review from 11/29/16 on Apartment Ratings May 2016: I recently relocated to Chapel Hill and knew nothing about the area. I chose Midtown 501 because the staff was so helpful throughout the moving process. I coordinated the move from California and really appreciate the time that XXXX took with me to make sure that I got what I wanted and that the move went so smoothly.
Now that I have moved in I am delighted with my new home! The community is fantastic. Great resident amenities, weekly resident events and I can walk to Trader Joes!
I would highly recommend to anyone who is moving to Chapel Hill!
Review from 5/20/16 on Apartment Ratings Apr 2016: The property is nice, a lot of curb appeal and the interior was redone several months ago with nice finishes. We have stainless steal appliances, granite countertops (although they're not sealed well so water leaves temporary marks), newer light fixtures, and washer/dryer are included. However, what they don't tell you is the stuff you don't see (ie. the wiring, plumbing, air system etc) is NOT new. We (and MANY others) have had AC/heat issues and electrical issues. Maintenance comes promptly, usually the next day unless it is the weekend, then they come on Monday, and I will say they are overall a good, hardworking team.
Review from 4/17/16 on Apartment Ratings Apr 2016: don't live on the first floor, all you hear is the neighbors on top walking as if they have bricks as shoes on their feet, very annoying, also there are no ceiling fans in none of the rooms, poor lighting, not enough light, and the bathrooms are small. I'm out of here when my lease is up.
