May 2019: There is no clarity on how the apartments are allotted. The website neither say that the 3 bedroom townhouse is offered only to the families and not to single graduates nor it speaks about the few 3 bedroom townhouses. The people at leasing office speak different things when you raise the concern. Taylor at leasing office mentioned that the 3 bedroom is not offered to single graduates. When I mentioned that it is something we were looking for and since this information is not available on website, we are seeking a refund on application. My call was then forwarded to another official who insisted that they can keep my application for the 3 bedroom when I raised an concern regarding the refund. If it is certain that there will not be any allotments of 3 bedroom townhouse to single graduates what is the use of keeping my application for the same. A very well maintained place, price-size relation is excellent considering all utilities and WIFI are included.
A very diverse, active and engaged community. Is a paradise for a Family with kids, lots of parks, safe environment and loads of friends to play with.
Staff is always willing to help and they organize activities for the CSCC community very often, for all ages.
Living at CSCC is a life experience you can't miss. Review from Google Jun 2018: I really loved living here! The administrative staff are very friendly and the maintenance staff are very responsive to maintenance requests. I loved the community feel here too. It is very family oriented with plenty of grass to play on, playgrounds, and BBQ grills. The landscaping is well kept year round, there are always plenty of fun activities put on for residents, it's close to campus, and one of the cheapest family student housing places to live. I made a lot of friends while living here and was sad when it was time to leave. I would highly recommend this place to student families. Review from Google May 2018: We lived in CSCC from 2016-2018 and loved our experience. We weren't able to visit prior to moving in, and we weren't exactly sure what it would be like (even though their website has lots of info and videos), but we were pleasantly surprised. The apartment was immaculate when we moved in, and the windows and carpet were all new. Some of the things we loved about CSCC were: the co-op experience (we really felt like we got to know our neighbors better than at other apartment complexes we've lived in in the past), the playgrounds, the maintenance staff (so friendly, efficient, and thorough), the office staff, the community activities (e.g., cooking classes, parties, etc.), etc. We just moved out and will really miss CSCC. Review from Google Apr 2018: Safe and secure. Great cooperative membership benefits and a great community. Review from Google Jan 2018: If you are a graduate student with kids, this is the perfect housing for you Review from Google Jan 2018: The place place for couples. The rent and maintenance are really good compared to the like-wise apartments outside CSCC. Review from Google Aug 2017: Great place to live! Especially if you have kids. Awesome access to playgrounds, safe space for kids, great neighbors, international community and many community wide events. Nearby to grocery, shopping mall and libraries.
The strong negative is only to make people aware of the cleaning issue during the move out process. The management have set an unattainable level of cleaning expectation. We cleaned our apartment for two days and they claimed to have put in 12 hours of work (you apparently get 4 free hours of work - but they never mention it anywhere) including this 4 free hours. They charge $35 per hour.
When you move in - take photos of everything. And I mean everything. Note every surface (windows, radiators) that may have tiny scratches or even dust - inside and outside. Same thing with closet. If you think you are being too picky - yo Review from Google Aug 2017: I lived at the CSCC for almost 6 years and overall I had a great time over there. Very nice manager and office staff and a wonderful place for family living...Only as others say you should be extremely careful with all those fines, particularly, when you move out! Review from Google Jun 2017: Living in CSCC is like living in a building in the middle of a Minneapolis park. The community feel and the green space available made this my favorite place to live ever!! The people I met here have taught me all sorts of things, from how to make Chana Dal Vada, to how to balance on one of the co-op's free slacklines. That's right. They have free slack lines to check out, so it is really fun to do that here while grilling at one of the many grilling spots on site. Like I said, it's like living in a park! Also, Insight Brewing is right across the street... if you like Minneapolis culture, this is one of the most ideal spots to rent: international social atmosphere, city-park feel, very close to NE breweries. Highly recommend! Review from Google May 2017: After reading some of the biased negative reviews I thought I would clarify some things for those who lack the basic understanding of living in a Co-Op or an apartment for that matter.
Cheap prices:
Before moving into CSCC, I looked for housing for over 5 months and I couldn’t find one place that was affordable AND close to campus. For its location, it’s cheap. You know why it’s cheap? Because it is a Co-Op, that’s how they keep the rent lower than many other housing options in the area. You have the option to lower your rent even more by being a stockholder. As a stockholder, you have to do some chores for your buildings. You get assigned a week once every 1 1/2 months to either clean the coreway (mainly vacuuming) or clean the laundry room (once every 3 months) in your building (mainly sweeping and wiping).
