Feb 2019: Removed a star for an annoying move out charge - however I commend the new management at Uncommon for correcting the mistake and in the end all was okay
I've lived here since August and have had a great experience, but not a perfect one. Great friendly service, fast maintenance, clean with no bugs unlike a lot of Athens apartments, fairly quiet considering it's downtown. One thing, however, is that the $800 rent goes more towards location (which is definitely amazing) than creating a luxury feel - furniture is good and pretty new but the walls are kind of thin. Also, don't buy a premium unit unless you absolutely need a TV in your room. Overall I would certainly recommend living here if you have quiet roommates and really value location, great service, and free coffee. Review from Google Feb 2019: My son lived here last year and had a great experience. Unfortunately, he moved to The Park at Athens - lakeside this year... a terrible dirty place. The difference between these 2 complexes is night and day. Uncommon Athens is more expensive but worth it. The Park at Athens... you are overpaying for what you get. I regret not keeping my son at Uncommon Athens. Review from Google Dec 2018: I lived here last year and this year. If you are looking for a place to live downtown, stop searching and sign a lease here. The best management and maintenance staff, fiber internet, multitude of amenities, and best community. Robert and Sarah are excellent managers, and all the leasing consultants are very welcoming and qualified. Review from Google Oct 2018: Great location, excellent amenities both in and outdoor. Professional and efficient staff and management. Best maintenance staff I have ever experienced in an apartment complex. Review from Google Sep 2018: The absolute worst management. TV and Internet are absolutely abysmal. Parking? good luck. Might as well go ahead and look for your own. I was promised on site parking and didn’t get it and was stuck in parking deck two blocks away. Absolutely nothing about this apartment complex makes it worth the price. I tried so hard to give it the benefit of the doubt but the parking, the internet, the ambiance makes it abysmal. I lived here 5 months and hated every second of it. Review from Google Jun 2018: Enjoy the location to downtown Athens and the convenient amenities such as the workout room and sauna! Review from Google Apr 2018: The uncommon is a good place to live, if you like to pay a ridiculous sum of money for completely terrible management. They do not have enough parking for all of the students living here (which they guarantee when you sign your lease). When I went to ask for a parking pass because I oftentimes come back to the apartment after dark and feel unsafe being forced to walk back home from such a distance. Upon confrontation, they told me that they "cant guarantee my safety."
Another safety concern here is that if you are to somehow get locked out of your apartment after management closes, you don't stand a chance of being able to get back in unless your roommates happen to be there as well. The "After hours emergency number" on the door does not work, it is the same number for the apartment office, which is closed. It is infuriating to call the num Review from Google Mar 2018: Great experience living here. Good service and nice apartments with the perfect location, easy walk dt and easy walk to campus. Haven’t had one bug problem yet, and the one time i had a maintenance problem, i put in a work order and they repair guys came in 20 mins. Price is a little high but well worth what you’re paying for. Review from Google Feb 2018: Uncommon is amazing, I'm so happy I get to live here!! It's so beautifully designed and the terrace is to die for, and it's ridiculously close to downtown. I know all my friends are going to want to come over to grill and watch the Dawgs!! Review from Google Jan 2018: My daughter just moved in for spring semester and Uncommon was able to accommodate us on such short notice. The staff was extremely pleasant to work with and as a parent, I am completely comfortable with my daughter living here. I don't think I would trust her or my money being with any other apartment complex. Thanks for the great customer service, Uncommon! Review from Google Oct 2017: Awesome apartment located right next to campus. Management and staff are awesome, and I along with many others have had no issue with them at all. Location is great, but the residence behind the building is loud sometimes, so I recommend having earplugs ready. It’s less than a 5 minute walk to the Arch and the Health Sciences bus stops about a block away on the way back.
The apartment comes with a gym but they don’t have free weights. They recently got a Smith machine though. Being close to Health Sciences though means Pound Hall is very close by. The terrace and study room are also neat.
The room itself is very modern, but a little small. It’s furnished but I ended up bringing some of my own. Maintenance is very fast, often the same day if not the next day. The common area (kitchen, living room) is very large compared to the bedroom. Review from Google Oct 2017: Great staff! Very friendly and professional. I will came in USA in January from Italy and they helped me make the lease in an exceptional way answering to each of my questions. When inquiring about an apartment, I spoke with Phoebe and Angie. Both were very helpful and knowledgeable. Review from Google Mar 2017: The manager of the building is extremely rude, unorganized, & unprofessional. Emails are ignored. The office is consistently unoccupied. If it’s a football weekend, you can expect the staff to be intoxicated - assuming they are there at all. I even reached out to the company that owns the building, CA Ventures. I had to find out their contact info myself since the Uncommon staff refused to provide it to me. Then, it took 10+ calls to get someone to even answer a phone. After that, the regional manager still ignored me entirely.
Review from 3/16/17 on Google Mar 2017: If i could give this place 0 stars i would!! I lived in Uncommon Athens for less than a year. I could not deal with all of the shadiness and unprofessional behavior that I received from staff at this complex. Upon move in I paid just under 3k to move in without a cosigner. I was placed in an apartment (I use the word "apartment" lightly. They were more like dorms) that was literally made for one person but they had the audacity to squeeze two of us in there.
Review from 3/11/17 on Google Jan 2017: After living here for a semester, I have continuously given Uncommon Athens plenty of chances to improve my living experience and they have not. In four years, I have lived in four different apartment complexes (two being in Athens), and never have I been so disrespected, disappointed, and disgusted with where I chose to live. The general manager of the establishment is extremely rude, unfriendly and needs to find a different job immediately. Most of the associates who work in the front are very unaccommodating and make you feel uncomfortable every time you have to go to the front office. Customer service is not their strength by any stretch once you live here. I understand this is the first year Uncommon has been open, but the quality of my apartment for the price I am paying is unacceptable.
Review from 1/10/17 on Google Nov 2016: I absolutely love living here! Beautiful apartment with fantastic amenities. The convince of where the apartments location is unbeatable. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help with any problems. You definitely get what you pay for!
