Apr 2018: Ick! Cockroach crawled across my son’s foot. Was not informed that hotel was under renovation. Peeling wallpaper, heater running cold. Management was not helpful that night, though kindly made good the next morning. Review from Google Mar 2018: Worst hotel experience ever. Hotel under major renovations. No mention when booked. Jackhammers until 6 pm, no water for 5 hours. Piles of drywall dust in our room. Hallways look like a war zone. Should be closed until complete.
Manager nowhere to be seen or heard. Staff try's hard but beaten down from constant barrage of complaints.
Stay away. Sad to say since I am a Marriott Gold member. Review from Google Mar 2018: We checked in at 12:30 am, the front desk staff was friendly and prompt. When we entered the room it was dated and beat up. There is a lot of action going on as the hotel is being updated. Being a platinum member we thought we would have been given one of the newly finished rooms. Unfortunately not. Everything was functioning and clean, just old and beat up. It will be nice once finished. Review from Google Feb 2018: Overall a great experience staying here. The staff is friendly, my room was clean, water pressure was amazing, and it's convenient to get in and out of. Food and beverages are available from the restaurant, there is a pool, and small weight room. You are walking distance from downtown which is great for food and activities. This is my second time staying here and I plan to stay here on my next visit as well. Thank you! Review from Google Jan 2018: If you are looking for a place to stay while you are in town to visit downtown Athens (especially the 40 Watt Club), this is SUPER convenient. However, be aware that this is not your average Courtyard Marriott. I will say that the staff was nice. However, our room had carpet stains, couch stains, old beat up furniture, a sink that wouldn't drain, a weird smell, paint touch ups of the totally wrong color, stuff like that. For the price, we probably wouldn't stay here again. But, like I said..nice staff, great location, but most definitely not up to the standards I've come to expect from Courtyard Marriott. Review from Google Dec 2017: Rooms are clean. Not a fan of exterior access. TV is small. Has a fridge and easy to control heat/ AC. Structure is originally a townhouse. Walk to downtown is dark and a little spooky, but conveniently located. Was hoping for a little more, but at the end of the day it's a good choice. Review from Google Oct 2017: Some of the friendliest staff I have ever experienced at a hotel. Everyone speaks when they see you and are very pleasant. I am in town for business and expect that I will be back. If and when I do come back I will be staying here. Great location and close to downtown. Lots of bars and food within walking distance. Clean rooms and very well taken care of property. Lots of parking. Review from Google Aug 2017: In a world where customer service is all but gone, I was really impressed with the fold at Marriott in Athens. Every person who spoke to us seemed genuinely helpful and pleasant, from the lovely girl that checked us in - I think, Miranda? - to even some construction workers doing some updates - seriously, even they were nice! The hotel is a little older, but clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was updated and check-out time is noon which is a plus in a party town like Athens. Parking is also free and the hotel is .3 miles from all the downtown fun, so just park and walk and have a great time! Review from Google Aug 2017: OK, but not really a "Courtyard."
I've stayed at a lot of Courtyards and I like them, as they're tuned to business travel. No worries about parking, your room's always ready if you get there after 2, simple three-story layout with an elevator just around from registration.
I checked in on a Saturday as an on-the-way stopover on a longer trip. Parking was tight and people were driving around looking for someone to leave so they could have a space... not a good sign. It was about 5:15PM at the end of a long driving day, so I wasn't too happy to hear that my room wasn't ready quite yet. The room turned out to be on the second floor (which is good), but to get to it, we had to drag our stuff through three halls to an inclined path that took us up to the second floor... quite odd and a bit inconvenient. When we finally got down to sleep, tha Review from Google Mar 2017: These apartments are GREAT! I have lived at the corner of Waddel and Church on the second floor. In general, this side of the complex is quieter and parking isn’t as much of an issue. These units are just far enough away from the frat houses to where you can still have peace of mind. I LOVE the location. I can walk to work; it is a mile to downtown, .8 miles to the stadium, a mile to 5 points, etc. The complex is full of grad students, young professionals, and some students. I have only encountered 1 instance where there was a party. Overall I have had no noise issues.
These are older apartments, but I have loved the character and had no issues. The kitchen has a black and white tiled floor and carpet throughout. My 1 bedroom is basically the same size as the 2 bedroom and it is HUGE. If you want all the bells and whistles, this is not the Review from Google
