Jan 2018: BAD but if you need a starter apartment it is ok. Do NOT accept a basement apartment. The older pipes are so loud that not 1 day has gone by that I haven't heard my upstairs neighbors using the restroom. It is really gross. MICE! We were 5 months into our lease before we found that multiple mice were scurrying all around our kitchen late at night. That can lead to health concerns of course so we almost broke our lease then. I wish I could say that the customer service was good but alas. The front office treats us like we are complainers. Sometimes you have to call multiple times for them to remember to send a maintenance guy. Why live in a dump if the front office won't even own up to that dump? ...all that is bearable but here's what takes the cake. It seems like every year they set up days for "improvement" to upgrade the community, but all Review from Google
Jan 2018: I have lived here for 3 years. It is a nice community with beautiful old trees around the buildings. All my neighbors through these years have been pleasant people. My experience has been that the management keeps the property up and is quick to fix a problem once reported. Review from Google
Dec 2017: This place is absolute trash. The management team is reluctant to help on any issue. When I first moved in there were roaches and millipedes. I managed to get rid of the roaches but the millipedes never went away because the apartment complex never put any money into solving the problem. As soon as winter hit the mice came. The management team was useless and just put traps down. The maintenance staff left a dead mouse under my sink and all the contents of my bathroom cabinets on the floor. The maintenance staff also enters the apartment with no notice to the tenant. Three times now they have done so without a single note or notice of entry. Greystar properties has a higher standard of customer service and this team continually misses the mark for even mediocre satisfaction. Spend your money elsewhere!
Dec 2017: ROACHES all over the place outside, and coming inside. Literally about 20 on the sidewalk alone at a given time. I asked for pest control since I'm paying a monthly fee for it, but they still haven't come out. Maintenance takes forever to do anything, and I have to ask multiple times for anything to get done. I took the pest control into my own hands, and thankfully have not seen any inside since. Review from Google
Sep 2017: The change in management companies was key. Greystar had put awesome people in their places. Maintenance responds quickly now and usually solves the problem on the first try. The ladies in the office are extremely friendly and happy to help- they recognize and call me by name. The community amenities are cool, too. The pool and gym are not the nicest but the basketball court is a big bonus. My favorite part is the access to Lake Johnson. It's a 5 minutes walk from my door. The actual apartments are undoubtedly older units. But they seem to be well taken care of. The cost of rent is reflective of the non-luxury style. don't get me wrong, I have plenty of room and pay way less than I did downtown. You do have to get your own washer dryer, but even with that cost, I'm saving money. Lastly, parking is abundant. You'll never fight for a place n Review from Google
Apr 2017: don't RENT!! Rented for 3 years. Very spacious appartment on top floor. Out dated appliances. Bad installation. Cold winters and very hot summers. If temperature outside is over 85 air conditioning could not cool. After 3 months of being out I'm still paying a $300 electric bill. Office staff were great but covered up all the floors that were going on. My electric bill average 250 in the summertime so good luck. Review from 4/3/17 on Google
Mar 2017: Cheap, spacious, washer and dryer hook ups, clean, and with fast maintenance. Its not the nicest apartment, but its good. I have been living here without incident for more then a year. Its close to NCSU (but just out of range of the wolfline, though I drive anyway). While it unfortunately allows pets, they have not been a nuisance. I would stay here again if I was staying in the area. Review from 3/12/17 on Google
Jan 2017: Well, how do I start this, I have been reading negative reviews from this property, I have to say this, every negative review I read was not accurate, you see I just move here to this complex from Miami, FL as a work transfer and to say the least I am so impressed with the property as well as the management, they have gone above and beyond to make me part of the family and when I say that I meant that, even from before the move they kept checking on me while I was on transit( Which other company does that?) Once I got here and got the keys to the apartment everything work as expected, nothing dirty, neither any pest control issue as I have read in previous reviews. Review from 1/7/17 on Google

Dec 2016: I am nearing my year end lease and I can't wait to get out. When my AC wasn't working during the summer and it was 82 degrees inside my apartment with all my windows and blinds shut and fans blowing constantly, the maintenance guy said "that's just how it is." He said when it's 95 degrees out the AC just isn't going to work. What the actual f--k??? That's not "how it is." I called maintenance again and wanted someone else to come look at it and they sent the same damn guy and he told me "I'm gonna tell you what I told you last time, it's just not going to work." He was a total ---- to me. The latch on my front door is broken and you have to twist it a certain way for it to latch at all when you close it behind you. Review from 12/18/16 on Apartment Ratings
Jan 2016: I had a positive experience at Avent Ferry. I've been here for almost a year and I'm actually moving out when my lease is up, but only because I purchased a house. The good: -Staff is really pretty great. They treat you like a person and seem like genuine people. Some people maybe won't like this, but they're not fake and salesly. I like that. -Maintenance is prompt. Usually same day even for non-emergencies. -Very close to lake Johnson. If you're lucky, you can get a view of the lake from your backyard. -They had some issues with me working on my car on the premises but they handled it pretty well, I didn't feel attacked. So very professional, friendly. Review from 1/28/16 on Apartment Ratings
Jul 2015: Frequent management turnover. Facilities that are constantly under repair and unusable. Poor (extremely poor) insulation. If I were to list the problems I had at the Summit, I think that ApartmentRatings would be forced to set a character limit on reviews. Long story short, we felt like the maintenance staff were our additional roommates with how frequently they were in and out. We rented an apartment that had recently had a fire breakout while occupied by the previous tenants. *** Quick side note - Best part about this is that even though this had happened, the Summit did not even have smoke detectors installed when we moved in. It took a building inspector to notice that we only had carbon monoxide detectors.*** Review from 7/29/2015 on Apartment Ratings
Jul 2015: I lived at the Summit for two years in the same apartment from 2012-early2015. Besides the ever changing management staff, I can say I liked living there. The apartment was nice and spacious for my roommates and I. Management was nice, although one employee often had an attitude and spoke to me as if I were a child. It was inappropriate and I often tried to avoid her whenever I had a complaint. I once went to the office to file a complaint and instead of checking on my complaint, she chastized me for not paying a pet fee and told me that I had my pet there illegally. After she looked at the paperwork, she did not apologize and this was irritating. Gerard, and Andrea, who I had limited interactions with, was nice. Ashley was as well and helped/supported me with issues that I had in the apartment. Review on 7/7/2015 on Apartment Ratings
Jul 2015: The only plus is that the complex is near NC State, but if you don't work or go to school there, you can definitely find a better place. Rent is cheap but you get what you pay for. Bug infested apartments...DEFINITELY DO NOT STAY ON THE BOTTOM FLOOR...when it gets warm your apartment is raided with the bugs you only find underground. Sketch maintenance, making inappropriate comments when they come to fix anything. Dirty hallways, horrid landscaping filled with trash. Incompetent staff...the list goes on Review from 7/6/2015 on Apartment Ratings
Mar 2015: WORST PLACE. STAY AWAY. Where do I even start.... Over $200 electricity bill in the winters because there is NO insulation (and we've kept the thermostat at 63...freezing), bugs, mold, no amenities (pool and courts suck, the gym is forever under construction), the most rude office workers I have ever come across (the one lady is the worst) except for the new manager, paper thin walls, nosy neighbors, not enough lighting in the parking lots, incompetent maintenance people that can't fix a thing. Overall, just not worth the money. Counting down the days until I can move out. Review from 3/05/15 on Apartment Ratings
Feb 2015: WORST PLACE I EVER LIVED. no insulation. bug infestation. rude management (after you sign ). stay away. Review from 2/20/15 on Apartment Ratings
Jul 2014: There are several issues with this apartment complex, both with the apartment itself and the community amenities. First, with the apartment, I would not recommend a basement apartment on the ground level. When autumn comes, there are dozens upon dozens of bugs migrating into the apartment; millipedes, cockroaches, etc. We've had the exterminator come every week and it still was not enough to curb the flood of insects that we had. Another issue is the fact when it came time to renew our lease, our rent was raised by $80/month! So I wouldn't suggest this place if you're looking to stay multiple years. We found a place right down the road for $150/month cheaper. Given that the rent is so high, The Summit kind of bills itself as having nice amenities, but the way the management handles the community amenities is very frustrating. May 2014: I just moved in a month ago and I've had nothing but issues. It took two weeks to hear back if I was accepted and they told me it would take a day. Maint. men came four different times trying to fix my hot water in the shower but they still never got it fixed...my dad had to fix it. Every time they come they leave my lights on. Management is not helpful and very unkind. I wish I had of known all of this or I would NOT have moved in. They promise comfort and customer service....but they show none.
