Aug 2019: Just going to say if you like to cook/plan on cooking a lot don't live here. No table, essentially no counter space, and the sink is small. Otherwise it's not bad. Review from Google May 2019: As of May 10th, 2019 I am a current tenant of The Westwood.
I cannot recommend living here 👎ðŸ»ðŸ‘ŽðŸ»
A parking pass is available for $10 a month but the parking lot behind the units is too small to accommodate even a quarter of the tenants. There is another lot all the way at the end of the street (940 N), making it quite inconvenient yet still the same price as the other lot 🤔. Most people are relegated to the distressing task of finding street parking on a seriously crammed street. I, and others in the complex, have received multiple parking citations for seemingly innocuous reasons, i.e. parking too close to an intersection, yield sign or other insignificant landmark, and there is almost no recourse for such occurrences because there is literally nowhere else to park. Parking is a daily frustration at the Westwood.
The units themselves are nice enough considering they’re brand new, but the craftsmanship is quite poor Review from Google Apr 2019: Sure, it looks nice...
The place is brand new and some of the appliances seem to be quality like the sink, fridges, dressers, washer/dryer and stove/oven (even though the glass top is a PAIN to clean). The smart TV is nice to have. The beds are clean and comfy.
But not impressed with the quality...
The place is quite small (especially the kitchen, if you frequently make dinner, it is definitely something to consider as there is not much counter/drawer space to put everything) but if you are a minimalist, it might be ok. If you drive, it's kind of annoying to pay monthly for a parking space and then have to park a block away half of the time when the main lot is full. Cleaning checks are hit or miss, sometimes its overly nit-picky other times they don't even check entire areas.
From a number of instances, I get the feeling that the new owners were in over their head when they took over. Whether the result of the construction company or the complex, many aspects were poorly planned Review from Google Feb 2019: Management has switched a couple of times, but the most recent owners have done very poorly at communicating changes to the property as well as being genuinely contracted with BYU housing. Apartments are decent, but management can be sketchy. Review from Google Sep 2018: So far, so good. Management is really good at communicating. They are aware that there are some problems due to all the remodeling but are trying their best to make everyone happy. Though the outside is still under construction, the inside of the apartments is beautiful. Review from Google Mar 2018: As of 2018, there are new owners and new management. All the apartments are being remodeled completely, the housing is turning into BYU-approved singles housing for men and women, and the owners and management are working to make it a positive experience for everyone.
