Mar 2019: My niece who is only 17 was pressured so much she forged her parents signature and now they don't know what to do. They should request a notarized signature for the parents of minors. The kids are being forced to sign because they are being told spaces are going fast, so they panic and illegally sign their parents name. Bad business model to pressure minors!! I had to write this. Do not live here freshmen year. It is 99% entitled Greek-life kids and the noise never stops in the halls. It gets worse the higher the floor. Despite the staff’s efforts to control alcohol there is a lot of drunk 18-year-old shenanigans. Towards the end of the year the halls/stairways are trashed and the RAs have given up. For the price it is not worth it, there are so many better options. The parking garage is a mess and the staff are on some sort of power play. They over charge you for laundry (which should be included considering the price). I really advise any freshmen to live somewhere else if you want some sort of quiet and genuine people. Review from Google Jun 2018: I absolutely love living at the Callaway House! It's about to be my second year living here and I love its proximity to campus, the rec, Reed Arena, the MSC, Olsen and Kyle Field. It's a social atmosphere that allows you to escape campus while still being in an academic environment. The CAs are the BEST!! Such great people with friendly personalities. :) Review from Google Jan 2018: This is a great off campus living spot in college station. Campus is super close & football games are really easy to get to. I love the cafe right on the first floor open for all meals. This is the perfect mixture between an apartment and dorm for freshman! You definitely don't want to miss out on living in callaway. Review from Google Jan 2018: Callaway is a super easy place to live!! Great place to have study groups and super convenient dining hall. All in all it’s a very updated and fun place to live. Super easy to get to campus and back, & it’s right in the middle of where the fun happens!! (Like field/ reed arena) Review from Google Jan 2018: I’ve lived at callaway for a semester now and it’s been great. At first the Callaway Staff dealt with some issues because of Harvey but handled it well and everything is fine now. Callaway offers a great living space and creates one of the best social atmospheres here at A&M. Review from Google Jan 2018: I really like this off-campus dorm a lot! It’s an all inclusive price and property so you never really have to worry about utilities and printers etc. The cafe has a lot of choices and the food is really good! The best part about this place is the staff. All of the CAs (community assistants) are so friendly and try to help you out as much as you can! I recommend living here since you get the most out of your money...plus it’s so close to campus! Review from Google Jan 2018: I lived at the Callaway House my freshman year and absolutely loved it. I love how close to campus it is as I bike to class and can get to campus in under 15 minutes. It is also super close to grocery stores and restaurants if I ever needed to run out to get food. I love that the Callaway House has a meal plan on site and the food is often delicious, they have multiple options daily and the staff are always friendly and willing to help. They also host multiple events throughout the year such as steak night, a fun casino night and even yoga sessions. One of my favorite things about living here is that they offer free scantrons for tests at the front desk which often come in useful! I personally have loved living at the Callaway House and would recommend it especially for incoming freshman! Review from Google May 2017: In short, this is has the worst experience of my life. the management is horrible. walls are paper thin, maintenance orders take forever and the food is faker than kim K's heiney. I would never recommend any freshman stay here other than to just destroy the place and get evicted on the first day. 10/10 would not recommend.
Review from 5/20/17 on Google Feb 2017: I love the Callaway House!!! Highly recommend it to any freshmen at A&M!! Very friendly staff & great food!!! You also receive wonderful amenities & even get free food like once a month!!! wouldn't change my freshmen living experience for ANYTHING!!
Review from 2/27/17 on Google Feb 2017: The Callaway House has been a great place for me to live my freshman year. It's in a great location right across from campus and it has a cafeteria which makes it very convenient. There's great amenities like a game room, movie room, pool, workout gym, free coffee in the lobby, and study rooms for those late nights. If you're looking to live off campus as a freshman and want a great experience, I definitely recommend the Callaway House!
Review from 2/24/17 on Google Feb 2017: I have really enjoyed my stay at the Callaway House, the employees are very nice and try to make a personal connection with you. The cafe food is pretty good and its always clean. I work out regularly and enjoy the fitness center as well, its not super big but it has everything I need! It's a great transition to living on your own.
Review from 2/12/17 on Google Dec 2016: Save your money and your sanity and live somewhere with a reasonable cost of rent and actual amenities. Living here was the biggest waste of money and the biggest headache.
Review from 12/15/16 on Google Nov 2016: Great place to live. I lived there when it first opened years ago (1999-2000ish). I was one of their first tenants. Parts of the building were still incomplete at the time. They used to "nickel and dime" you for everything back then as there really wasn't any competition other than the now demolished University Tower. Look into all of the misc things they charge for prior to signing up.
Review from 11/20/16 on Google Oct 2016: As a parent, I really appreciated the Callaway experience. It was close and convenient to campus and ideal for students participating in rush. Parking and move-in was easy.
Review from 10/2/16 on Google Feb 2016: Love the Callaway House. I lived there last year and it was an overall great experience. I met a ton of friends, and don't regret living here at all. The cafe is awesome and definitely worth the money. Staff is awesome and very understanding for dealing with first year college kids. The location is the best I could have asked for. It's as close as you can get to campus without actually living in a dorm on campus. wouldn't have changed living there for anything. definitely recommend.
Review from 2/16/16 on Google Feb 2016: A lot of my friends lived at the Callaway House freshman year so I spent a lot of time there. It has awesome amenities, good food, and a friendly staff. I think they recently made upgrades to the cafeteria too! would recommend to incoming freshmen.
Review from 2/15/16 on Google Feb 2016: I lived at Callaway a couple of years ago and loved it. Close to campus, clean environment, good food, and friendly staff. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews from a couple years ago. From my experience, management only got onto you if you created trouble for yourself...i.e. punching a hole in the door and being mad that it wasn't built thicker (my roommate may have done this haha). Anyways, living here was a lot of fun and where all of my friends were. My brother is going to live here his freshman year too, and I would recommend it to anyone else I knew.
Review from 2/13/16 on Google Jul 2015: Is it the Ritz Carlton? No. It's not supposed to be. It's a dorm, and it's what you make it. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her time at Callaway (or cway as the kids call it) -- she felt safe, she had fun, she made great friends and would definitely recommend to any incoming freshman Aggie. Gig 'em!
Review from 7/28/15 on Google Mar 2015: The only plus of living here is close proximity to friends and the cool security guards, other than that I have nothing positive to say. The only thing consistent about the food service is that the workers have a terrible attitude throughout. The RA's and CA's are disrespectful, intrusive, and keep only their ego-centrical priorities in mind. The place is built at a bare minimum cost (the doors literally only two pieces of plywood held together by styrofoam), and the front desk arbitrarily deems whatever they seem fit with their agendas. Quite honestly, I sincerely wish I chose to live somewhere else. Thanks and Gig'em.
Review from 3/1/15 on Google Oct 2013: DONT RENT THERE!!!IS A BAD PLACE TO BE, THE WANT YOU TO PAY THEM FOR EVERYTHING THE GOES AROUND, PLEASE DONT DO IT!! (Apartment Ratings 10/13/2013) Apr 2013: Living at the Callaway House was one of the high points of my freshman year. It is a great place to live while transitioning to the new challenges of being a college student. They have a cafeteria, gym, pool, computer lab, study rooms and an entertainment room which provided a safe, fun environment to get work done, relax or make friends. It is very close to campus and had to leave my room about 20 minutes before class started and I could still get there on time. The majority of people who live there are Greek, but there are still plenty of people who aren't too. The staff was really nice about helping out in situations and were nice to the residents. They also had monthly events which often gave away prizes which was a plus. I really enjoyed staying at Callaway. I made some good friends and am actually living with on of my roommates (Apartment Ratings 04/23/2013 Apr 2013: The Callaway House is the best! Could not have asked for a better staff! They are willing and happy to help you with anything! The building is very nice and the renovations are a very nice touch! The rooms are nice and come furnished. The caf downstairs is awesome as well. They will make you almost anything you want. Another great thing about The Callaway House is it is directly across the street from campus, and there is even a bus stop that you can take to get to your classes if you don't want to walk or ride a bike! If you're looking for a wonderful place to live, The Callaway House is the perfect fit for you! If you're even slightly interested in living here, go take a tour and your mind will be set!
