The majority of apartments near UNCW are to the west of campus, with a few apartments in walking distance. The on-campus options are stronger at UNCW than many other universities putting pressure on the off-campus apartment complexes. The majority of UNCW apartment options are not focused on just students which means the options for the all inclusive, with resort style pool places are limited. That being said, with CFCC close by there is a good student population resulting in a few student apartment complexes at UNCW, and increasing.
There is a great shuttle system for UNCW which overlaps with the WAVE system for Wilmington: http://uncw.edu/parking/shuttle.htm. Being on the shuttle route can save a lot of gas money, as well as time walking from the parking lots.
Discrimination is not nice and not lawful. Preferences can be made if you are sharing the same living space, but make sure you check the laws to see what applies to you.
