Mar 2015: I moved out of this complex last year. Basically if I had it to do over again I would choose another place to live.
Apartments are marketed and priced as "luxury," but as another reviewer notes, many lack amenities that are expected in a luxury apartment such as ceiling fans and tile in the kitchen and bathroom. In addition, management will gouge you upon move-out. Do not expect a penny of your deposit back even if you were as pristine as could be. I had no pets, there were no stains on my carpet and I cleaned the apartment thoroughly before leaving, but still management refused to give me any of my deposit back and I ultimately decided it was not worth fighting about any longer.
Review from 3/14/2015 on Apartment Ratings Oct 2014: This is a wonderful apartment complex! The office staff are very helpful and friendly. Maintenance people come the next day. I have not had any problems with noisy neighbors or feeling unsafe. They have landscapers come about once a week to get rid of leaves, cut grass, etc and it always looks so nice here. There are also sidewalks along the road for those walking to buses. There is not a bus that comes here which is unfortunate, but from my understanding, out of their control and it is a short walk to a bus stop in Finley Forest. My rent is also very reasonable and much better than what my other friends pay in other complexes in the area. I would recommend living here to anyone!

There are a lot of college and post grad folk that live here, but the noise really isn't much of an issue. My fiance and I can hear the people above us and the dog barking occasionally but thats somewhat expected at any apartment. The premises is very clean and the apartment looks as if it were brand new. We have new appliances which are stainless steal and the layout of the apartment looks great. Bugs really are no issue, just a few small spiders and a couple of water bugs (only 2).
Review from 09/19/14 on Apartment Ratings Aug 2014: I am not renewing my lease at Alta Springs primarily because the rent hikes have gotten out of hand. $1100 for a one-bedroom apartment, even in Chapel Hill, is absolutely insane. This is for an apartment that does not have upgraded appliances, built-in microwave, ceiling fans, hardwood floors, or any other luxury amenities that would warrant a price that high. I understand that management wants to subsidize the new apartment buildings they've built and the new fitness center, but that should not come at the expense of residents who do not live in those new buildings.
