Jul 2019: This is a late post because I lived there for a year, 3 years ago, but I'm sure not much has changed.
I found TWO SCORPIONS in my apartment! I have never seen scorpions before or after. The light in the hallway between the bathroom and bedroom leaked for days before maintenance came to fix it. After, they fixed a few months later, it was leaking again. Very overpriced for what it is. The office is always switching companies and staff. They would turn the water off with only notifying you sometimes.
They will let anyone rent here, twice I had crazy neighbors who were loud, did multiple drugs, and had lots of people coming in and out. I'm pretty sure a hobo couple or random friends of the neighbors lived on the back stairwell for a few days.
OVERPRICED!!! Review from Google Jun 2019: I've lived here for over a year and a half. I have had no problems with my apartment, and the staff is always very helpful! Yes bugs do exist in the south but the pest control does a great job! Review from Google May 2019: Bugs, bugs, bugs...I will never forget our first few nights in our townhome at Legacy of Athens. There were millipedes everywhere. The pest issue worsened at dusk and I stayed up until 2am for several nights removing insects from our home just so I could sleep. You pay monthly fees for pest control at Legacy, and we still had to purchase and spray our own as the company they use doesn’t work and they only came to our apartment once during our 12 month lease. Within the first week, we noticed our ceiling was leaking and softening in the downstairs bathroom due to an issue with the upstairs toilet. As a 23 year old woman, I didn’t always feel safe living there. A few months after we moved in, a young male fired a handgun into the air right behind our townhome. It turns out this person lived on the property, or was a friend of a resident. When we first moved in, we got along well with the ladies working in the front office Review from Google May 2019: It is a nice quiet place, however they need to make sidewalks out to the front buildings so the residents dont have to go through the mud to get to their front door... Review from Google Apr 2019: Nice place to live! Nice pool, playground, dog park, and laundry mat all in a safe feeling community! Great location- minutes away from many local stores and restaurants. Happy with the new management and improvements! would recommend! 😠Review from Google Apr 2019: I’ve lived here for a year now, and it’s fallen a little short of my expectations.
Pros: They do have a nice pool which is shaded from the hot sun. They have spacious closet room.
Cons: After viewing and signing I was told I was going to have hardwood floors; My move-in date changed the day of, because the carpet installation wasn’t complete. Maintance staff let my ceiling leak overnight, and then did some patchwork on the ceiling, after hours, leaving a huge stain. There is never enough room in the dumpsters, forcing residents to leave trash behind the dumpster. Office staff would show up to my workplace and want special treatment with coupons because they knew who I was. There are huge holes in the road, and maintenance seems to just keep patching them; so every time it rains it’s seems the filler just washes away.
BUT my biggest complaint, would be the lawn care team that is outsourced Review from Google Dec 2018: I'm the sure the review above was made by someone staffed with the company, property or leasing manager perhaps. Let's be REAL, I know that everyone needs a job and a great place to stay nowadays. We all fall on short times and require individuals such as; landlords to reason with the situation. Nevertheless, the entire staff seems like they all got their jobs just by luck instead of any formal education, like business management. A person that can't relate to someone situation wont be able to reason with their life challenging situations that might occur. Long story short, these people are beyond unprofessional, not trustworthy or honest. I can't believe someone would actually put their names behind this place and then have the audacity to call it "The Legacy of Athens". In my opinion, the only thing legendary about this place is the age of t Review from Google Dec 2018: Really disappointing. I’m giving this place one star for the maintenance guys who are always on tops of things here. They’re usually in the same day or next day when you report an issue on the app they have for the units. I do know before I say anything else this place is under brand new management and this happened literally the day we moved out (11/11/2018). You pay extra hidden fees on top of regular rent. Our monthly cost of living steadily increased to the point where it was reaching almost $1,000 a month for rent water/ sewer and the “management fee†“amenity fee ($100/month)†and trash and several other little fees. There’s no way to track your water bc they bundle everyone’s in your building and average it out per unit and that determines your monthly cost. There was also a charge if you paid with a card for rent but I Review from Google Aug 2018: Legacy of Athens is a great place to live. The office staff go way out of their way to make you feel welcome and accommodating. I can't stress this enough.
The apartments are nice as well and they offer pest control in the rent. That is a plus since we are in GA.
I feel a great sence of peace driving to my apartment through the community.
Thanks Legacy Review from Google Jul 2018: I have lived at Legacy of Athens for a few years now and it has been amazing to see the transformation the current staff has put it through. All of the updates to the building had been awesome to see. I love how close Legacy is to downtown and all of the fun activities on the east side of Athens. The amenities and staff at Legacy are great. The maintenance crew especially stands out to me, they are all professional and ready to help any residents at a moment's notice. Overall a wonderful place to live Review from Google Jul 2018: I love Legacy of Athens!!!! This is the best place to work and the residents our super awesome. Review from Google Jun 2018: I just moved here March 30th. There’s a lot of things I want to address.
The Pros:
Nice community, it’s well kept. People in the rent office are very nice. It’s not a bad area to live.
The Cons:
ROACHES, ROACHES, ROACHES. Before I moved into my apartment, I went to do a walk through and my sis and I saw a baby roach. I was disgusted. We automatically thought that we had nasty neighbors. My sis looked outside the window and my neighbors, who I share he back porch with had five bags of trash sitting outside and the apartment below me had nine bags of trash sitting outside their back porch. Just filthy. But I was told that the people who stayed below me no longer stay there. And once they can evict them the roaches would go away. I bombed the place twice before moving into it and twice after moving into it. Still I have roaches. I’ve Review from Google Mar 2018: Friendly staff, efficient maintenance crew when needed. Pleasant nieghborhood, great amenities on site. Been here 2 yrs and renewing lease. Review from Google Feb 2018: It's gotten better since just months ago when it was a pit. It's cheaper and better than The Pointe. The Staff are HONEST and work well with what they have. There are some clear thugs down toward the end so if renting look closer toward the office and main road. Review from Google Feb 2018: Moved down here from out of state, this apartment complex was gracious enough to work with us in getting us a unit, without us having to physically be here.
Upon move in there were a few issues with plumbing and a pest problem. However, after alerting management to said problems, they quickly moved to fix each problem. They did a complete building clean out TWICE to ensure that all the pests were eradicated and to keep them from coming back, we have a weekly apartment treatment. All plumbing issues were resolved. If anything should break or malfunction, a quick email or phone and you can be sure someone will be at your door to fix the issue.
Management is also very understanding during times when their tenants are going through a financial hardship, so that's a plus. Grounds are clean, pretty quiet living community. I give this complex 4 1 Review from Google Jan 2018: Affordable and comfortable housing with employees that will respond to any issues, maintenance or otherwise, in a timely manner. I've lived here 1 1/2 years so far and have no complaints. Review from Google Jan 2018: This is a family and pet friendly environment in which I am pleased at for the most part. Yes, there are roaches and other bugs but I wouldn't go as far as saying infestation, we are in the south and surrounded by woods so it is to be expected no matter how well pest control works. Staff, maintenance and residents are very friendly. Anytime we had a maintenance issue it was taken care of within an appropriate amount of time. For the most part it is very quite here, however, unfortunately I have some neighbors who like to party until early hours and others that can be very loud which keeps me up at night. The only major complaint I have is having to pay a non refundable pet deposit AND a $10 monthly pet fee when the doggy bags at every station are almost always empty for long periods of time and the dog park is needing attention. Overall, I wou Review from Google Nov 2017: I love the office staff and the community. They do plenty of community functions even when I am out walking my pet and the staff sees me they speak and waive. The staff alone is worth living here. Some times maintenance is a little slow but the office staff keeps me informed on what is going on with my work orders. Review from Google Nov 2017: I came in to tour Legacy of Athens and was greeted by faces that immediately made me want to live there. The leasing consultant helped me with every question I had and gave me plentiful amounts of documents to take with me to help make my decision to live there. The model she toured with me was beautiful and I loved the accessories she added in to make it feel more like “home†while touring. The community was clean and quiet.
Unfortunately I am no longer moving to Athens, but I will be sure to contact Sara if I need a place to stay in Athens! I have recommended this beautiful place to everyone I know in search of a new place to call home! Review from Google Nov 2017: The Good:
Most of the staff is pleasant. Pet friendly. Generally quiet. Ability to work with our short time frame. Location.
The Bad:
Unit was not newly renovated as stated. Pieced together updates. Numerous water outages. Bugs. Numerous work order opportunities that have not been corrected and if they have been corrected the maintenance crew creates additional opportunities.
The Ugly:
We too relocated abruptly from out of state. We were misguided on the condition of our unit. It was not newly renovated as stated. There are numerous water emergencies or planned outages without notification. Do not drink the water- you can smell the chemicals in the water. When one opportunity is corrected another opportunity occurs. From the HVAC unit needing replaced to not having a functioning toilet. The outside residential management team does not resp Review from Google May 2017: Very happy here with my apartment and I love the new office people. Yes maintenance is sometimes slow but it is nice to know the ladies in the office care. I stop in to get coffee almost daily and it is refreshing to see the ladies in the office. They always say hello and make me smile. The new manager is always going out on property. I never saw that in my 4 years of living here. XXXX is awesome!!! The new leasing girl is also friendly and always willing to help me on the computer. Thanks girls!!
Review from 5/12/17 on Google Apr 2017: Worse place to live probably in the entire country. New management is terrible. Never in the office and everything is cheap.
Review from 4/11/17 on Google Dec 2016: I am a current resident, and moved in during the July 4th weekend this year. Since then, my air condition has gone out EIGHT times. Currently, it has been out for nearly 7 weeks! Yes, you read right. Seven weeks. Absolutely nothing was taken off our rent due to it not being what they consider an "emergency" (temperatures over 80 degrees in unit. Which they were for some of the past 7 weeks). Their only offer? To put another window unit in. So you won't take money off the rent, you can't fix the air because you're having staffing issues, you don't even know if the heat works (which we won't even try to turn on at night or it would be too hot during the day), and all you can offer me is another crappy window unit? Wow.
Review from 12/1/16 on Apartment Ratings Oct 2016: This place is absolutely pathetic. The worst place to live in Athens,Ga. I signed a twelve month lease but I broke my lease after six months. I was not going to pay Legacy of Athens $840.00 a month to live with the biggest cockroaches I've ever seen. The roaches should be in a zoo exhibit. This place is nasty. Legacy is one step above a slum. The apartments are poorly insulated. Electric bills are outrageous. My last electric bill for one month was $205.00 dollars. I was the only one living in the apartment and I work at least 10 hours a day seven days a weeK. I was never home. They fool by showing you a model apartment and not the apartment you will be moving into. Avoid this place.
Review from 10/6/16 on Apartment Ratings May 2016: I have lived here a year now. They just recently changed management and now their level of costumer service and care for their tenants has gone from being on point to non existent. The previous management went out of their way to inform their tenants of up coming advance more than several days in advance. Since the complex management has moved to Monument Real Estate Services it is apparent that they do not care about their tenants. So far they have shut the water off several times with no notice the first time while I was in the shower and the second while I was going to do laundry.
